PAL Campaign's Contribution to The Created Book by Cory Heimann
Cory Heimann of Likable Art put together an amazing collection of reflections on what it means to create. Drawing insights from some of the best Catholic Creatives working today, this book invites others to join in that very process. This is a living example of allowing beauty to aid in the mission of the New Evangelization. I was lucky enough to be asked to contribute my own reflection:
Beauty has always been a natural stimulus to transcendence. Art can provide a feast for the senses that allows mankind to get a foretaste of the heavenly banquet. Continued gazes at beauty elevates, and helps to set one free from the chains of the lesser loves that the world has to offer. With the positive implications of exposure to such beauty, it should be of primary concern for the Church today to foster and nurture its creation. The Incarnation of Christ sanctions the use of the visible form to mediate invisible truth. By creating, artists have the unique opportunity to participate in the work of Christ, bringing to flesh expressions of God’s love and mercy. Artists, Christ has invited you to create. Use the power of beauty to reveal, to transform, and to fall in love.
